Focus Fire

Ordering a group of ranged units to attack one target at a time instead of spreading their damage. Focused damage kills units faster, which means fewer enemy units shooting back.

It matters most with Archers and Crossbowmen in small numbers. Larger armies need less of it, because overkill (more arrows than a unit needs to die) wastes damage.
