Damage that hits every unit in an area. Mangonels, Onagers, Bombard Cannons and some ships deal it. Splash damage punishes armies that stand in tight groups, especially archers.
Splitting units, spreading them out or dodging shots by moving reduces the damage. Mangonel shots can hurt your own units too.
